Gordon McLennan - Writer / Director
Gordon McLennan is one of Western Canada's most accomplished filmmakers.
His career in the film industry has taken him from Los Angeles to New York,
from Europe to Africa. For the past ten years, Gordon has been writing, producing
and directing high quality feature films and innovative television documentaries
for the international market.
After attending the American Film Institute in Los Angeles, Gordon formed
Naked Eye Films in New York and produced the critically acclaimed independent
feature Risk. The film was invited to the Sundance Film Festival as well as
festivals in Mannheim, Vienna and Rome.
In Canada, Gordon recently produced My Life Without Me, a Canada/Spain
coproduction with El Deseo, Pedro Almodovar's company. The film starred Mark
Ruffalo, Alfred Molina, Sarah Polley and Amanda Plummer. Other recent feature
projects were Skipped Parts, with Drew Barrymore, Jennifer Jason Leigh and Brad
Renfro, and Paris or Somewhere, with Molly Parker and Callum Keith Rennie,
which received three Gemini Award nominations.
Gordon has won numerous awards for directing documentaries. The innovative
arts documentary, The Trickster, was nominated for the prestigious Chalmers
Documentarian Award and for Best Photography at the Hot Docs Festival in
Toronto. His documentary for the National Film Board of Canada, In The Flesh,
won the Bronze Plaque at the 48th Annual Columbus International Film and
Video Festival.
Other recent documentaries include The Psychedelic Pioneers
for History Channel, and In Her Eyes for BRAVO!
Gordon recently directed the feature film Dead Even, with Richard Greico,
Brigette Bako and Greg Evigan. Gordon has also written several feature screenplays.
One of these, Art of Living, will be produced in 2004.
